Whitby
Famous for it's connections with Captain Cook, who served his apprenticeship here, and Bram Stoker, who was inspired to write Dracula, whilst staying here, Whitby's most important contribution to the world was made in the 7th century, when the western world Calendar was adopted at the Synod of Whitby. The Abbey ruins still stand, providing a dramatic backdrop for this wonderful town.
Visitors to Whitby also enjoy the freshest fish and chips in one of its' many harbour side restaurants.
